The journey to Balud Batu was not an easy one. Most of the roads leading from Kota Kinabalu, the Sabah province’s capital, were gravel, not well maintained and extremely bumpy. It made sleep on the four hour drive there a tedious chore. The roads were surrounded by lush jungle and palm trees.
